Cindy Goodman: My Roots and Passion

I was conceived by an Air Force pilot and a stay-at-home wife in the late 50s. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always say, "A mommy!" as I had been programmed to think. When time came for college, everyone else was clear about what path they were going to take towards their education and career. I however, did not. When I asked my Dad if I could go to college, he grumpily (is that a word?) told me this: "You may go to college for only one year. You find a husband, become a wife and mother and make a nice life for yourself." So that is what I did. I married the first man that asked me.

Needless to say, that didn't last long and I found myself alone, no where to go, no education and no job. I hit the streets pretending I was a college grad and I could do anything. Most people that interviewed me knew otherwise.

One day, I got a job from a man that had just started a small ad agency. He needed a "typesetter". Of course I knew how to type so I thought I could step right in to that position! When he hired me, I sat down in a chair and stared at the monster before me. It was a Compugraphic typesetter, a MACHINE! I was intimidated for only one day. I jumped in and figured out how to run the thing. And for the next few years, I learned not only about the art of typesetting, but about graphic design as well. It came easy to me, like a gift from God.

Since then, I have had mentors and friends that have helped me get where I am. I take all the classes I can to keep up with the latest software and technology. I have learned website building and marketing. Graphic design made me blossom into the woman I am today. I love every minute of designing a logo, a brochure, an annual report or an illustration. Freelancing gives me the chance to "play" like a child and keeps me going in the toughest of times.

My full time job at Holy Cross Hospital is perfect. I love to go to work every day because every day is totally different from the last. I joke that I have four jobs; graphic designer, website designer, marketing and public relations. Four jobs for the price of one! But I wouldn't trade anything for this opportunity. And living in Taos, New Mexico is a wonderland of beauty, interesting cultures and the arts. Stimulating, invigorating and peaceful to the soul.

I hope you enjoy some of my portfolio I have created throughout the 33 years I have been blessed with this gift. It is still a work in progress. I look forward to the chance of freelancing for you and make your new business, branding or passion come to life. I am available any time for an estimate or firm quote for your project, big or small. I can't wait to meet you and show you how wonderful my life truly is through graphic design!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my website,
